A mother of two living in Utah recently turned to TikTok for advice after experiencing growing anxiety over a close friend’s “touchy” behavior toward her husband. The woman explained that while she initially tried to assume her friend had nothing but good intentions, the situation has progressed to the point where she feels compelled to speak up.
However, she admitted that confrontation fills her with dread and that she is unsure how to address the issue without damaging multiple relationships. “She’s a good friend,” the mom said in the short video. “I don’t wanna lose that friendship. But also, I don’t want you touching my husband.”
The Behavior That Made Her Uncomfortable
According to the woman, the friend in question is married to one of her husband’s friends, and the two families frequently spend time together. She said that during these gatherings, the friend has become noticeably “very touchy with my husband,” often placing her hands on him repeatedly within short periods of time.
The woman added that the touching does not happen once or accidentally, but occurs consistently whenever they are together. She described instances where her friend would touch her husband several times within minutes, even following him as he moved around the room in order to remain physically close. “Even when he moves around the couch,” she said, “she’ll follow him and stand next to him.”
As for how her husband feels about the situation, the woman later clarified in the comments section of her post that she has spoken openly with him about it and that he, too, feels uncomfortable with the friend’s behavior.
‘I’m Getting Anxiety Every Time She’s Coming Over’
Over time, the behavior began to take an emotional toll on her. The woman said she now experiences anxiety whenever the friend comes over, worrying about how much physical contact will occur and how uncomfortable it will make her feel. While she emphasized that she is not concerned about her husband’s intentions, she admitted she struggles to understand why her friend feels comfortable behaving this way toward someone else’s spouse.
The mom also pointed to comments her friend has made that she found unsettling. She recalled moments when the woman complimented her husband’s appearance in ways that felt unnecessary or out of place, including telling him he looked “so cute” in casual running clothes. She also shared that her friend once suggested she send just her husband and children over to her house for dinner.
When it comes to addressing the issue, the woman said her children are one of the biggest reasons she has hesitated. According to her, their kids are close friends, and she fears that calling the other mom out on her behavior could disrupt not only her own friendship but also the bond between their children. “There’s so many layers that make it hard,” she said.
What Netizens Are Saying About the Utah Woman’s Situation
In the comments, many netizens encouraged the woman to trust her instincts and prioritize her own comfort. “Your intuition is YELLING at you for a reason,” one person wrote. Another commented, “It might be time to put a pause on the relationship. You value her friendship, but obviously she doesn’t value yours.” A third added, “That’s very disrespectful of her, and you need to let her know.”
Several others also felt that the responsibility should not fall solely on her shoulders and that her husband should address the situation directly. “Your husband needs to say something. He needs to be up front and just tell her, ‘please stop touching me.’ It needs to be clear to her that HE doesn’t like it,” one comment read.
