A locksmith in Virginia was hired to change the lock of a local Chick-fil-A. Upon arriving at the restaurant, she encountered the owner, a woman. He, for some reason, refused to believe she actually owned the place. As expected, he was wrong, and he was fired on the spot.
The story was shared on TikTok by Shelita Jaclyn, who reportedly owns a Chick-fil-A in Chesapeake, Virginia. She detailed that her husband, who works as the facilities and maintenance man, hired the locksmith to change the restaurant’s lock.
Days later, the locksmith showed up at the Chick-fil-A, asking for the owner. Here comes Shelita, asking him if he was there to change the locks. The locksmith said yes, but he needed to “get the okay from the owner.”
Shelita gave him the okay, but that wasn’t enough for the locksmith. He said, according to her, “No, ma’am. I need you to go get the owner so I can make sure it is okay with him for me to get started.”
The Virginia woman said she was the owner, but the locksmith argued that he spoke with a man through the phone. That man, of course, was Shelita’s husband.
“That’s amazing, and irrelevant. Two things can be true,” Shelita clapped back. However, the man said, “Well, I’m gonna have to call and confirm.” When she asked why, the man lifted his finger to Shelita’s place, telling her to be quiet.
Locksmith Fired, Clip Goes Viral
The locksmith called Shelita’s husband. As expected, he said he wasn’t the owner, but her wife. Shocked to the core, the Virginia man hung up the phone and, in silence, slowly transformed from a “confident contractor” to “Windows 95 error screen,” Shelita hilariously said.
Without apologizing, the now-scared-to-death man told Shelita he could get the okay from her. She, however, had had enough.
“You could, but you won’t,” she told the locksmith. “I will pay someone else to accomplish that task today. The task I have for you is, remember moving forward: it is a lot cheaper to show respect than it is to lose out on a contract or an opportunity.”
Shelita ended her clip by calling women bosses, regardless of their profession, asking them not to shrink themselves “in a room that you help build.”
The clip was seen close to 3 million times, with thousands wanting to visit her Virginia Chick-fil-A desperately, hoping to meet Shelita.
“I absolutely love this is where we’re out in our society, accountability and consequences,” one user said. Another one commented, “Her Chick-Fil-A is in Chesapeake, VA, across from Greenbrier Mall. One of the best in the area!” A third one added, “That’s a Chick-fil-A I’d gladly purchase from.”
