Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the Health and Human Services Secretary, has faced frequent criticism in recent months, and a recent comment has sparked another wave of reactions online. While speaking at an event for MAHA Action, an advocacy group tied to the “Make America Healthy Again” campaign, he suggested that Americans could consider eating liver as a more affordable way to consume meat.

The remark quickly drew attention, with many people debating whether the suggestion was practical or out of touch.

In his speech, RFK Jr. said, “Most of the cheap cuts of meat are very inexpensive.” He continued, “If you buy a Porterhouse steak or a strip steak, it is gonna set you back. You can buy liver or the cheaper cuts of steak that are very, very affordable.”

The remarks quickly drew criticism and mockery from some political figures. Senator Chuck Schumer mentioned former President Trump’s official account on X and asked, “Is liver on the menu tonight at the Mar-a-Lago dining room? Or is that just for the rest of America?”

Comedians also weighed in. Comedian Jay Black wrote on X, “For the masses: liver and cheap cuts. For the rich: steak and zero consequences. For RFK Jr.: bear carcass and toilet seat cocaine. It’s not a fair world.”

The Independent later clarified the reference, noting, “Black was referring to Kennedy’s admissions that he once dumped a dead bear in New York City’s Central Park and used to snort cocaine off toilet seats.”

The exchange added fuel to the ongoing online debate surrounding Kennedy’s comments and public persona.

People Reacting to RFK Jr.’s Liver Comment

Many people criticized RFK Jr. online after he suggested that Americans consider eating liver as a more affordable option. Some commenters questioned whether it was a healthy choice.

“The liver is literally a filter. I’m not eating the filter of anything,” one person wrote.

Another agreed, replying, “Exactly. Filters all the garbage.”

Someone else was more direct, stating, “RFK Jr is an idiot and no one should listen to him.”

Others connected the comment to broader economic messaging. “Why should we eat liver if the economy is so great and the grocery’s are very cheap,” one TikTok user joked.

The reactions reflected a mix of health concerns, political criticism, and frustration over the broader conversation about food affordability.

Many people compared the Secretary of Health’s comment to the famous “let them eat cake” phrase often attributed to Marie Antoinette. One person wrote, “‘Let them eat liver.’”

Another added, “2 nights ago: ‘Best economy ever!’ but today: ‘Let them eat liver.’”

Some criticized the optics of the suggestion. “How dare a millionaire tell citizens to eat cheaper cuts of meat,” one person commented.

Others raised health concerns. One woman pointed out, “Eating too much liver can cause serious health issues related to high levels of vitamin A and copper. This is not good health advice.”

That prompted another response: “Oh, but this guy apparently is the head of this department and knows what he’s talking about. I wonder if he learned everything about food and nutrition and health and safety when he was doing all his drugs.”

The online reaction reflected a mix of political criticism, economic frustration, and debate over whether the suggestion was practical or tone-deaf.
