A recent report coming out of South Korea has confirmed a new game from Atlus titled Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is coming. It’s been rumored that there would be a follow-up to the Switch-exclusive 2021 game Shin Megami Tensei V for some time, but there is now more concrete proof of its existence, more evidence surrounding what the game’s content will be, and an increased likelihood that its launch will be sometime in the near future.
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance Confirmed
The proof of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance was initially reported by Gematsu, but has also been backed by further proof posted on a Megaten subreddit shortly afterward. It was initially noticed due to the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea giving the new title an official rating. The rating has since been removed but multiple observers have since separately confirmed seeing it, making Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance all but officially confirmed by Atlus at this point.
The game is supposedly a complete edition of the original akin to Persona 5 Royal, meaning it will contain the original game, all DLC released by Atlus up until this point, and even more additional bonus content. If there’s enough bonus story content, extra boss battles, and demons, then this would become the best option for new players looking to experience SMT V for the first time and likely a great pick for fans of the original who want to experience the game again.
The fact that this new title received an official rating in South Korea bodes well for the release window of the new title. It seems very likely that Atlus is trying to get it out at some point in 2024, and may even be aiming for a release as soon as this summer.
