Brought a lollipop, though

Loud music has caused many arguments between neighbors, but not many end with someone talking about a weapon. A new video from Georgia appears to show exactly that, and it has sparked strong reactions online.

Hours ago this happened in Brunswick,Georgia a black man was outside cleaning out his car while playing music & sucking on a lollipop & a white man came over & started threatening him because he didn’t like the music playing so he pulled a gun out of his pocket & was arrested. pic.twitter.com/Cr4FtcKKEi

The video shows a shirtless man confronting his Black neighbor outside what appears to be an apartment complex or shared parking area in Georgia at night.

According to the video, the argument started because the man was upset about the music his neighbor was playing while the neighbor was cleaning his car.

At one point, the man says, “I have got a 9mm on me,” while appearing to show the weapon.

His neighbor, who is recording the encounter, replies, “A nine millimeter. Over some music. That’s interesting.”

The man recording also tells the armed neighbor to back away as he keeps walking toward him. He says, “He’s approaching me with a gun in his pockets,” and adds that all he has is a lollipop.

The video later shows police arriving at the scene.

Internet Reacts to Georgia Gun Confrontation

The video received a range of reactions online. Some people strongly criticized bringing a weapon into a dispute over music, while others talked about how loud the music may have been.

One commenter wrote, “Racists think they can do anything these days with Trump in office.” Another said, “Right message, wrong way. It’s not about the music; it’s the volume. Music doesn’t need to be blasting in a neighborhood exp at night.”

Others focused on the man’s comment about the weapon.

One person joked, “Waited his whole life practicing in the mirror to say 9 mil.” Another wrote, “This does not add up because this seems late at night but brandishing a gun is not justified at all. Just call the police.”

A fifth echoed that sentiment, “Seems a little late to playing loud music. It’s never a reason to pull the gun for music.”

One more wrote, “I see racism is alive and well in the USA. It’s been inbred for decades and it’ll take decades more to even turn the tide.”
