We’ve reached a point where you have to wonder why restaurants keep serving food with things that absolutely shouldn’t be there. This problem has been popping up all over America, and each new incident is more unbelievable than the last.
The latest example comes from a Florida woman who was stunned by what she found while visiting Disney World. She explained that she ordered a salad, only to discover a screw mixed in with her food. It was later confirmed to be a metal bolt, but that doesn’t make the situation any less alarming. “Are you kidding?” she said as she filmed the exact spot where the bolt was sitting.
Luckily, the bolt was large enough to be noticed before anyone accidentally bit into it.
In her update, the Florida woman shared more details about the incident. She revealed that she had been eating at Cosmic Ray’s in Magic Kingdom and that the bolt was found at the very bottom of her salad bowl. When she approached a cast member to report what happened, she said they looked “appalled.” The cast member then tried to take the salad from her, which came across as a little suspicious. Why remove the only evidence proving a metal bolt was inside her food? Thankfully, she held onto it, and soon after, a manager came over.
The manager took down her information, refunded her entire meal, and offered her a single Lightning Lane. That was all. She later filed a complaint with Guest Relations, but she’s still waiting for a response.
Whether she decides to pursue legal action remains unknown, but offering just a Lightning Lane after someone discovers a bolt in their salad makes it feel like Disney isn’t treating the situation as seriously as they should.
People Reacting to What the Florida Woman Found Inside Her Salad
Of course, people were just as shocked as the Florida woman after seeing her video. This is the first time I saw someone find a bolt in their food. Since the situation is serious and someone could have gotten harmed, one woman wrote, “You need to report it‼!” Some Disney employees also joined the conversation as one of them said, “I work in a Disney kitchen… I don’t even know how this is possible…” Apparently, this isn’t the first time something like this happened because a former employee wrote, “what’s crazy is that i used to work at the restaurant in cinderella’s castle and one time we had mac and cheese sent back with a screw in it so i guess its not uncommon at disney LOL.” At this point just add it to the recipe.
Several commenters urged the Florida woman to sue over the incident. One person even joked, “I’d be choking on it and getting that settlement, baby.” Another added, “Girl, get that bag.”
But not everyone thought the situation deserved a lawsuit. One woman pushed back on the idea, saying, “I mean, for all they know, you yourself put the bolt in your salad. A refund and a Lightning Lane as compensation for a non-injury seems pretty fair. Totally within your rights to escalate, but in all honesty, what are you wanting from them?”
Another TikTok user echoed that sentiment, writing, “Sucks this happened, but here to remind the comments that this isn’t worthy of compensation. Refund? Yes. Settlement? No.”
At the very least, though, many felt Disney could have given her something a little more meaningful than the bare minimum.
