The state of food production in America has sparked much debate in recent months. Many believe that companies no longer prioritize quality. This belief was supported by the recent remarks of a Campbell’s executive. The executive claimed that their food is 3D printed and also bioengineered meat. Now, a New York woman is talking about something similar to how food is no longer real. She posted a video expressing her shock and asking “What is happening to food in America?” In the video, the woman talked about how Breyers is no longer real ice cream. It all started when she and her husband bought two boxes of Breyers only to find that they tasted terrible.
The New York woman then pointed out a discovery she made. The box of Breyers doesn’t state at all that it is ice cream. They are still called Breyers ice cream, though. What the box had instead was “frozen dairy dessert.” This made the concerned woman share a screenshot of a conversation she had with ChatGPT about that matter. According to it, Breyers changed the way it produces its product. This made them no longer identified by the FDA as ice cream. This is why they have to use the new term for being a dairy dessert. So now, Breyers isn’t actually ice cream. The woman also said that the vanilla flavor in the Breyers box actually tastes like metal. “What am I actually eating here?” she asked and it is honestly a good question.
Since her video went viral, she went to check out other ice cream brands to see if they are just like Breyers. When she saw a tub of Edy’s, it had on it the same “frozen dairy dessert” phrase. On the other hand, Blue Bell actually states that their product is ice cream. The Mayfield brand also states the same. So the good side here is that there are still brands out there that are real ice cream.
People Reacting to the New York Woman’s Discovery
A lot of people were angry after they learned about the New York woman’s discovery. Not many people realized this change in Breyers. Since it doesn’t qualify as real ice cream, one person wrote, “They’re selling us garbage, at a higher price!” Another person shared another claim that points out that Breyers isn’t ice cream anymore. “Leave it out it does not melt,” they wrote. Someone also brought the current administration into the conversation as they said, “People voted for deregulation without fully understanding what that means. It only benefits big corporations, not us.” It does seem that the quality of food in America is deteriorating.
More people left comments under the New York woman’s video. There was one person who claimed that Breyers is just like Campbell’s. “It’s bioengineered, just like campbells soup. Most of our packaged food is bioengineered now,” they wrote. It also turned out that there were customers out there who knew about this and stopped buying Breyers after realizing its nature. “They’re not allowed to label it ice cream anymore because it doesn’t have enough dairy in it to be considered ice cream. If it says ice cream on the package, it’s hit a specific dairy content. I stopped buying them ages ago for that reason,” one woman wrote. They still have their fans, though.
