When you buy food from a grocery store, you don’t usually question whether it’s safe to eat. Most of us trust that what we’re bringing home is fine. But one woman in Ohio is probably wishing she’d been more cautious after what she found in a loaf of bread from Aldi.
She shared a TikTok video explaining that she and her kids had been eating the bread all week before noticing something strange baked into one of the loaves: a black object that looked disturbingly like a tail. When she checked the rest of the bag, she found more of the same dark material running through the other loaves.
At first, she thought it might just be tar. Then she noticed it had hair. Viewers didn’t hesitate to share their opinions, with many convinced it was exactly what it looked like: a dead rat baked right into the bread. It’s the kind of discovery that instantly ruins your appetite, and probably your trust in store-bought bread for a long while.
Once the woman saw people’s comments, she realized that it was probably a rat. She shared in a video how her son threw up during the same week they were eating the bread. She also got sick and had to go to urgent care. In addition to this, when they ate from the bread again before they discovered the rat, she ended up feeling nauseous. Of course, she contacted Aldi, and they ended up asking her to send them a sample of the toast so that they could test it. They also gave her a $10 coupon and refunded her for what she paid for the bread. That’s insane. If I just ate a rat or even told Aldi or any corporation that I suspected I ate a rat from one of their products, I would expect a lot more than this.
In another video, the woman said that she contacted her local health department. They ended up going to Aldi and checking the loaves there. They, however, didn’t find anything. Despite this, she made sure to go to the doctor along with her kids since all of them got sick. One of her kids even started getting a rash on his arms. It might not be a coincidence that all of this is happening right after they ate the bread. In another update, the woman said that Aldi reached back to her, saying that it was just burned bread. If that was the case, then why did it have hair? Thankfully, they will still test the bread just to make sure. In addition to this, the mom was smart enough to decide not to send them all the loaves. This is because she is planning on doing her own test as well. If this were actually a rat, then she definitely has a lawsuit.
People Reacting to the Shocked Ohio Woman’s Discovery
The moment that the woman posted a video wondering what was in her bread, everyone told her that it was a rat. “Pretty sure that’s a dead mouse,” one person wrote. Others agreed as another person said, “I said mouse at the first slice.” Someone else then replied and said, “Same. It has fur yikes.” More comments came in saying the same thing, as one person said, “that is a cooked, dehydrated, smooshed rat ma’am.” I didn’t need to imagine this description. Since the poor woman assumed at first that it was tar, some people joked about this. “Girl! That’s a dead rat! Not tar! Tar does not have hair,” one person wrote. Someone else said, “I think it is a taR backwards lol.” Another person also had a great joke as they wrote, “You made them Peanut Butter and Jerry sandwiches.” At least they could laugh about it.
More people confirmed to the Ohio woman that what she found in the Aldi bread was, in fact, a rat. Others told her that she now has a valid lawsuit. “Lady, that’s a big fat paycheck, that’s what it is,” one person wrote. Another person then said, “that’s a law suit babe.” A lot of people agreed with this, as someone else wrote, “Yes threaten to sue the company/grocery store that sold the loaf, the factory it was made is supposed to have quality control and the store itself is supposed to have quality control too.” This should have happened. There was one TikTok user, though, who disagreed with the whole rat claims. “I work at a bakery and that is mold from a proof box that wasn’t cleaned and got stuck to the bread,” they wrote. That’s still bad but it’s better than it being a rat.
