Unfortunately, many people could lose their jobs after discovering wrongdoing at their workplace. This was the case with a Texas man who was immediately fired from the autoshop he was working at after he accused his general manager of editing his hours. In a short video shared by him, you could see him talking to the GM and telling her that he caught her editing his time. Despite the accusation being serious, the manager didn’t deny it. What she did instead was to tell her employee to go home and that he was fired. He asked her to print his hours, which is within his rights, but she refused to do so. In the caption, the man’s girlfriend claimed that the general manager had been mistreating him for a long time.
The Texas man’s girlfriend also claimed that the manager always pretended that it was a heavy task to check his hours whenever he asked her. When she allegedly edited them and was caught, she didn’t have any problems with the task. In another video, the former employee said that he felt this was coming for a long time. This was why he had been applying for jobs for a while. He also claimed that the general manager had a “target” on him. After the video was seen by thousands, a TikTok user called out Firestone, where the man used to work, about what happened. That was when they responded and said, “We’ve reviewed the TikTok video and are taking this matter very seriously. An internal investigation is underway to ensure we fully understand the situation.” Hopefully, they will do something.
People Reacting to the Texas Man Getting Fired
People were just as shocked as the Texas man after they saw what allegedly happened to him. Many claimed that the man should file a lawsuit against the manager. “Lawsuit for stealing hours,” one person wrote. When someone claimed that the lawsuit won’t bring the man a lot of money, another person said, “Back in 2022 i sued my job and settled for 100k. Theft of wages, hostile work environments, and retaliation are serious and have zero tolerance. As long as he has proof he will get a HEFTY settlement check.” One woman also wrote, “So she retaliated against you, which is illegal.” When one person said, “The system would show that the time has been edited,” the girlfriend responded, “That’s how he caught her.”
More people defended the Texas man and sympathized with him. There was one woman who claimed that the auto shop’s managers do this everywhere. “I used to work at a firestone, the upper management actually encourages this, multiple managers had to do this. If you report one they just move them to the nearby store and tell you they fired them. Dealt with this like crazy,” they wrote. Someone else said, “I literally just got fired last from Firestone n Baton Rouge behind me speaking up behind this yall. I was the head ‘A-tech’ at the shop that I was transferred to bc of the other store that closed! Spoke up the whole year about this and when the area manager came and had a store meeting about this and a week later I was fired!” If that was true then management has a lot of things they need to work on.
