After obtaining a Gauntlet Runner and joining the succession tournament, you will need to travel throughout the country in search of a powerful beast. During your journey to Martira, you will encounter a fight between two other candidates. Glodell is a Louis follower while Gideaux is Forden’s right-hand man. Since your party plans to get close to Louis, you will need to decide whether or not to help Glodell in Metaphor: ReFantazio.
Metaphor: ReFantazio: Should You Help Glodell?
The correct answer is that you should help out Glodell in Metaphor: ReFantazio. After all, your goal is to gain Louis’ attention, and helping one of his followers will turn his eyes toward you. However, this choice technically doesn’t matter. Even if you decide to see how the situation plays out, your allies will ignore your decision and insist on helping the man.
Helping Glodell will make Gideaux angry, and he will start a fight with your party. Since the King’s magic is protecting the candidate, you must defeat the two fighters accompanying this man. One is a Mage Monk, while the other one is a Spearmonk. Note that you cannot hit Gideaux, so don’t use AoE attacks.
You will want to beat the Mage Monk first since this guy can heal his allies. He is resistant to all elemental magic, so you need to use physical attacks to defeat him. Then, you can turn your attention to the Spearmonk. I suggest using Ice magic since he is weak against this element, but you can also attack with Cyc.
Once you defeat one of his fighters, Gideaux will join the fight. The man can use AoE healing magic that can restore around 200 HP. He may also attack you with his staff, which can temporarily reduce your DEF. Mage Shimmer is another move in his arsenal where you can cast Light magic on you.
After helping Glodell, Louis will show up in the area, and you will meet the main villain for the first time. The man will ask you some questions, and I suggest picking your answers correctly since you don’t want to raise suspicions.
