This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

At the end of Chapter 3 in Frostpunk 2, you must decide whether or not to salvage the Winterhome or settle in this new area. This is a critical choice since it will affect the gameplay and objectives in Chapters 4 and 5. All factions in New London have agendas and goals, and whatever decision you make about the Fate of Winterhome will displease some of them. So, besides juggling with keeping the city afloat, you also need to play politics and ensure no insurgence occurs under your leadership.

The Fate of Winterhome’s pivotal choice will decide whether or not you’ll continue to stay in New London or leave in Frostpunk 2. Like the defeat or embrace the frost dilemma, there is no right answer to this question.

If you decide to salvage Winterhome, you will gain approval from the Stalwarts, who prefer to stay in New London. Your next goal will be to harvest the Cores inside the abandoned colony. Note that you will still need to establish a temporary settlement and deal with the poisonous gas in this region.

Of course, you can also obtain Cores from other areas, and that still counts toward your objective. You will need this material to upgrade your generator so you can survive the upcoming Whiteout.

On the other hand, settling in Winterhome will make you closer to the Pilgrims. This path will require you to slowly move your base from New London to this new colony. It won’t be an easy task since you have to find a way to stop the poisonous gas from killing your citizens. This decision will displease the Stalwarts, and they may cause some trouble while you are trying to move away.

Conclusion

As I’ve stated before, you should decide about the Fate of Winterhome in Frostpunk 2 based on your preference. If you opt to defeat the frost, staying in New London makes more sense since it aligns with your previous decision. On the other hand, moving to this new settlement will give you an easier time during the next Whiteout.

Basically, pick salvage Winterhome to have an easier start in Chapter 4, but you have to deal with a harsh Whiteout. On the other hand, moving to this new colony will require you to work hard during preparation, but you won’t get hit by the freezing cold instantaneously. Due to the Winterhome’s geography, only a part of your settlement will suffer this catastrophe, giving you an easier time during the freezing storm.
