The Showtime drama series "Yellowjackets" has been renewed for a second season.
This article is over 3 years old and may contain outdated information.

The Showtime drama seriesย Yellowjacketsย has been renewed for Season 2. The series jumps from past to present detailing the survival of a girls soccer team fighting for survival after a plane crash and the girls all grown up. Melanie Lynskey, Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci, and Tawny Cypress play the adult versions. Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson created the series and are executive producers. Jonathan Lisco is also an executive producer and a co-showrunner. Karyn Kusama directed the pilot and is an executive producer as well. Drew Comins of Creative Engine is also on the list as an executive producer. Entertainment One produces the newly renewed Showtime drama seriesย Yellowjackets. Four million people tuned in to watch the first episode of the series. The network has been hopeful from the positive reviews, so Season 2 was a no-brainer.

The Showtime drama series Yellowjackets, just renewed, has taken audiences by storm. The series debut came second to the limited series Dexter: New Blood. The limited series came after the conclusion of Dexter back in 2013. Yellowjackets is an original drama series for Showtime, that has executives hopeful. Co-President of Entertainment, Gary Levine, shared his excitement over the series, saying:

We are overwhelmed by both the acclaim and the audience response to our series, including several โ€˜Best of 2021โ€™ lists, a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes and snowballing viewership. Clearly there is a hunger for originality and audacity, and our incredible showrunners Ashley, Bart and Jonathan, along with their pitch-perfect cast, have delivered that and so much more. I canโ€™t wait to see the surprises they have in store for us in Season 2.โ€

What Will Season 2 Bring?

The Showtime drama series "Yellowjackets" will have a Season 2.

Before thinking about Yellowjackets renewed for Season 2, think about Season 1. Misty (played by Samantha Hanratty), Shauna (played by Sophie Nรฉlisse), Taissa (played by Savoy Brown), and Natalie (played by Sophie Thatcher) comprise the teenage girl’s soccer team. A little drug use, some betrayal, and a big plane crash star the Showtime drama series Yellowjackets. Melanie Lynskey is the adult Shauna. She’s a bored wife and mother with a penchant for violence. Tawny Cypress is Taissa (aka Tai) as an adult. Tai is running for state senator. Juliette Lewis plays the adult Natalie, who has just finished up rehab. Christina Ricci is the adult version of Misty. She is a not-so-pleasant nursing-home care assistant. How much more awful will these cast of characters get in Season 2?

Each character has their quirks and a bit of a dark side. Since Season 1 is not even over yet there are still many revelations to unfold. Season 2 of the renewed series Yellowjackets has a lot more to show. Season 1 will end on January 16, 2022.
