Shuhei Yoshida, former president of SIE Worldwide Studios, discussed Bloodborne during an interview with Kinda Funny Games. He prefaced his comments by saying this was just a theory. However, Yoshida mentioned that Bloodborne is one of Hidetaka Miyazaki’s favorite projects. Although Miyazaki might be interested in doing more with the game, he is very busy. “He is so busy, so he cannot do it himself,” Shuhei Yoshida said. “But he doesn’t want anyone else to touch it.”

Bloodborne has been one of the most requested games for a PC port and even a sequel. Unfortunately, this popular game appears to have been abandoned by Sony. Many people joke that Sony isn’t interested in making more money from fans, but Yoshida’s theory suggests another possibility.

According to Yoshida, Sony might simply be respecting Hidetaka Miyazaki’s wishes. Since Miyazaki is so attached to the game, he doesn’t want anyone else to handle his beloved project. Unfortunately, he’s been too busy to dedicate time to Bloodborne himself.

Yoshida stressed that he was simply sharing a theory and did not have any insider information. Although Yoshida’s claim is interesting, Miyazaki has previously stated that he couldn’t say much about Bloodborne since FromSoftware does not own the IP. Miyazaki has been very vague about the game’s future, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

Fans’ reactions have been very mixed after hearing this theory. On one hand, while they understand that Miyazaki may love Bloodborne, they still want more from the game. “Is it really that big a deal if a 60fps patch is published without his involvement?” one fan wrote on X.

Another fan pointed out that Miyazaki could have let Bluepoint Games handle the project, considering the company previously worked on Demon’s Souls. Others still hope for a Bloodborne remaster so they can play the game on PlayStation 5 with improved graphics and performance. One fan remarked that the fate of Bloodborne lies in Sony’s hands, as the IP belongs to PlayStation. “Currently, it seems like they’re too focused on Horizon to give much else the light of day,” the fan wrote.
