Not many films or TV shows have tackled the pandemic, but some have either tied into it or circled the story around it. Peacock has released the trailer for Sick, a horror movie during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The look at the upcoming horror-comedy slasher comes ahead of its January 13 release date on the streamer.
The premise is simple: Young people are staying in a cabin to be isolated during the beginning of the pandemic, but things get deadly when a mysterious person becomes the other worry for these people trying not to catch the virus. The Sick trailer delivers COVID-19 worries, death, and a bit of humor as it introduces its premise and characters.

The film was directed by John Hyams (Alone) and penned by Kevin Williamson (Scream) and first-time writer Katelyn Crabb. The Sick trailer certainly has the DNA of Williamson, who wrote the original Scream, with his sense of meta-humor and taste for the blood of young people.
The Sick trailer shows off some of its cast. It will be led by Jane Adams (Hacks) and Gideon Adlon (Pacific Rim: The Black), with co-stars Marc Menchaca (Ozark) and Dylan Sprayberry (Teen Wolf).
The slasher was released last year at Fantastic Fest, where critics dug into the bloody ride. Although the reviews are limited, it currently holds 94% on Rotten Tomatoes (note that it is currently only 18 reviews submitted). Those who reviewed it found it to not break new ground, but made for a fun ride with solid performances and kills.
Michael J. Zampino, Thomas Zadra, and Andrew Golov served as executive producers. Williamson, Bill Block, and Ben Fast produced.
The Sick trailer will hold potential viewers long enough before it coughs and stabs on the streaming platform on January 13.
