Several new Silent Hill games might be in development right now. These rumors are base on comments made by the Medium developer and this VideoGamesChornicle article.
Silent Hill…s
Bloober Team said it’s working on “another horror IP” with a “very famous publisher” in this GamesIndustry.biz interview.
In fact, we’ve been working for more than a year on another gaming project, another horror IP, and we’re doing this with a very famous gaming publisher. I can’t tell you who. I can’t tell you what the project is, but I’m pretty sure when people realize we’re working on it, they will be very excited.”
The aforementioned VideoGamesChronicle article notes:
Two people with knowledge of the Japanese publisher’s plans told VGC that it had originally approached Dark Pictures developer Supermassive to pitch a Silent Hill reboot. The Supermassive project was ultimately not signed, but the framework for that game evolved into the episodic Dark Pictures titles.”
Industry insiders commented in a tweet you can view below.
(1/2) The first thing I heard in mid-2018 which I shared in January 2020, which I insist is 100% true, because is it, was Konami was shopping around to greenlight two Silent Hill games, one a soft reboot, 1 an episodic game. They sought pitches from various studios, I know of 2, https://t.co/z49j94xkBt

According to another IGN article surrounding the topic, VGC sources already pointed out that Konami already outsourced a single Silent Hill project to a “prominent Japanese developer”. We should learn more about this title this summer. MBG just posted on Twitter saying they have a “reputable source” confirming the rumor.
We have a credible report claiming Konami outsourced a new Silent Hill game to a "prominent Japanese Developer" and will be revealed this Summer. So, is this developer Sony's Japan studio? Is the Silent Hill PS5 rumor true after all?https://t.co/EZk5nEUZTK pic.twitter.com/2dbKJwspmm

If we couple these rumors with the Bloober Team ones, we can conclude that several Silent Hill games might be in the works.
The latest Silent Hill title – Silent Hill: Book of Memories – to be released dropped in Japan on February 14, 2013, on Vita. Since then we had P.T., a game that was never finished. If you were lucky to own a PlayStation back then you may be downloaded the P.T. demo. Today, you can’t even do that, because it’s been pulled from the PlayStation Store since then. It was a cool game. Or at least could have been a cool game. Unfortunately, we’ll never know.
This doesn’t stop us from enjoying upcoming Silent Hill titles, especially seeing as how Konami finally opened up to letting third-party developers handle the franchise. Maybe.
Rumors about a new Silent Hill game are nothing new. They show up. Turn out to be false. They resurface. All of this should be taken with a huge chunk of salt. Not a grain. Chunk. Make that a bucket actually.
What do you think about these rumors? Maybe you already figured out who the developer(s) in question are? Have any theories about the next Silent Hill game? Let us know in the comments below.
