As Season 19 of Sister Wives comes to a close, many fans are trying to predict what the future of the show might be. The dynamic of the Brown family has significantly changed in the most recent seasons and, as a result, it isn’t clear what direction the TLC program will take. However, some viewers think they have it all figured out.
TLC first introduced viewers to Kody Brown and his wives in September of 2010. During the first season of Sister Wives, fans saw Kody’s three wives welcome a fourth woman into the family. The way each of the wives coexisted with the next was interesting to many people.
Robyn Brown, the fourth wife to be introduced into the family, served as a turning point in many ways. Kody Brown broke a lot of rules for Robyn and their relationship ultimately led to turmoil in his marriages with the other women.
After more than 14 years on television, Kody is down to just one wife: Robyn. As the other wives and children distanced themselves from the Brown patriarch, many people wondered if there was anything left to see on Sister Wives.
Season 19 has been relatively boring. The season started out with events that happened years ago, which is strange for a show that is supposed to be based on “reality.” Much of what was playing out on TV was information that fans were already privy to. According to some fans on Reddit, it seems like TLC might be leaning one way with the future of Sister Wives.
Could There Be a Sister Wives Spin-Off in the Works?
One Reddit user pointed out that Christine Brown, one of Kody’s ex-wives, has been “playing it up” for the camera in recent episodes. Rather than have another season of Sister Wives, the person suggested, “I honestly think they will have a show with Christine and David and their 2 families.”
This would take Janelle Brown, Meri Brown, Kody, and Robyn Brown out of the picture entirely. The Reddit user made one good point. When TLC initially launched Sister Wives it was to showcase a big family. Now that their family has broken up, there’s not much left to see.
That said, not many fans are interested in seeing a Christine Brown spin-off, it seems. “I am so OVER the Christine and David storyline. Happy for them both but 🥱. I skip through them now,” one person commented.
Another Reddit user pointed out that most of the adult children of Kody Brown don’t want to be filmed, asking, “What makes you think David’s kids and grandkids want to?” A second person backed this up, pointing out that a number of people in David’s family don’t even want to be shown on social media.
The general consensus seemed to be that most people wouldn’t enjoy a Christine and David spin-off though. “If it’s anything like this season, it’d be a hard pass for me,” one fan wrote. Another agreed, “Her story is starting a second marriage and blending two families I mean I have seen that story on and off camera before already.”
There hasn’t been any word from the network regarding the future of the hit show, but something will likely be changing if we see any of the Brown family on TV again.
Sister Wives airs on Sundays at 10 p.m. EST on TLC.
