Smart Georgia Man Reveals How to Catch a Cheating Partner Using a PS5 This Valentine’s: ‘Best PS5 Promo I Ever Seen’

As expected, gamers don’t like cheaters

Infidelity has been a part of human civilization for a long time now, ever since monogamy or pair bonding became the norm. Suffice to say, cheating persists to this day despite modern technology’s involvement, but one man from Georgia found out a clever trick to catch a remorseless cheating partner using nothing but a PlayStation 5 and your phone, something many people online have praised for its ingenuity.

The now-viral suggestion came from Instagram user and TikToker gkb.r5 from Atlanta, Georgia, who posted the trick on February 10. In the video, the Instagram user tells viewers that they only need to have a PS5 with a controller, a complementary TV, and a smartphone to catch a cheating woman, though this can work for just about any gender, really.

All you have to do is start a party chat in your powered PS5 through the PlayStation app, disconnect the HDMI from the TV, leave the controller in the room where you suspect the cheater would bring their side piece, and eavesdrop on their “conversation” using your phone (connected to the PS5 via the app) while you’re away. The controller mic will pick up the sounds in the room, letting you know what is going on, even if it might be something you won’t like to hear.

Of course, you have to ensure that the controller mic is unmuted or that it’s fully-charged and that the PS5 is not set to power down after inactivity. In any case, the Instagram user’s method has become wildly viral with millions of views across social media, as it seems a lot of PS5 owners are worried or suspicious of their significant others, especially this upcoming Valentine’s Day on Saturday.

People online call the trick brilliant and ridiculous

The Instagram user’s video and explanation for the method have since earned equal amounts of praise and ridicule. On one hand, it’s a clever trick that basically costs nothing– no need for a private investigator or a hidden CCTV, “The brilliance of this is absolutely amazing 👏👏🔥🔥 Respect bro 😂😂,” says one commenter, with another praising the PS5, “best p5 promo I ever seen😂😂😂.”

On the other hand, if you really distrust your partner that much, it might be better to just leave and find someone who won’t give you the same level of paranoia, like one Instagram user comments, “If you gotta do all that. Don’t deal with her 🙄.” Others were starting to second-guess the current modern dating scene because of this level of mistrust and surveillance, “Why ion date 🥷🏾s that play the game. They play too much 😂.”

Apparently, you don’t even need to have a PS5, people who aren’t avid gamers could use their iPhone, for example, according to one X user, “If you have an iPhone with original AirPods, you can connect your iPhone to your AirPods and use the hearing aid feature on your iPhone to listen to anything being said by just leaving your phone close to the place you want.” Also, the controller mic method seems to work on Xbox consoles as well, but with how popular the method is right now, there’s a chance cheaters already know.
