Playing as characters lifted from the pages in Solo Leveling: ARISE is enticing, but new characters are inevitable with a massive PC and mobile player base. Unsurprisingly, additional Hunters from Solo Leveling will appear, but all-new faces are also delightful. But with Hunters come other allies for Sung Jinwoo, as the Executive Project Director of Solo Leveling: ARISE confirms more Shadows are incoming.
Hunters are the most commonly represented profession in Solo Leveling, keeping dangerous threats at bay. They are often registered nationally, like in Korea and abroad, with each character bringing a different combat specialty. Shadows, meanwhile, are Jinwoo’s enemies, defeated and subjugated by his necromancy, and are the namesake of the game Solo Leveling: ARISE.
More Original Characters Are Being Revealed in Solo Leveling: ARISE
The Solo Leveling: ARISE social media team has done a great job engaging fans with their original Hunter reveals. After all, Emma Laurent and Anna Ruiz are original characters not found in the series, yet they fit in perfectly. This is part of the game’s development pipeline to keep adding fresh content on top of other surprise additions to Solo Leveling: ARISE. A world of nations that can be represented opens massive doors for the game.
As Executive Project Director Seon-Keon Jin puts it, this is part of the initiative to flesh out the main game. The main series’ story is still being added, with the latest updates including six chapters in the Story mode. But beyond the typical story additions and the likely addition of canon characters, other plans include the following after our recent interview:
Moreover, there will be more Hunters, Shadows and strategic skills original to Solo Leveling: ARISE.

It’s plain as day that players will have new surprises to anticipate, so check their official X account regularly. Fans can eagerly look forward to the original Hunters and to the original Shadows in Solo Leveling: ARISE.
New Original and Returning Shadows Will Bring Up the Rear
One of the most gratifying moments in Solo Leveling: ARISE comes after Chapter 8 when Jinwoo defeats Igris. It becomes part of his job change quest, and with Chapter 9 he learns of the Necromancer and Monarch of Shadows jobs. This allows him to utter a single command to reanimate his enemies as Shadows, essentially a fourth ally slot.
Currently, four Shadows are listed in the Codex, but with Chapter 18 hinting at Kargalgan, more canon entries are coming. This could mean future additions of Tusk, or more importantly, Greed in future updates, but original Shadows is enticing, too. Given the scope of Shadow types extending beyond mere human or beast, and even being monstrous in size, this is the feature to watch out for in Solo Leveling: ARISE.
