Sonic games never get old, and Sega always finds a way to bring new additions with new kinds of experience. The franchise’s upcoming Sonic Superstars is continuing that and giving a significant refresh to Sonic The Hedgehog. It’s been only two weeks since Sonic Superstars‘ official reveal on Summer Game Fest, but the release date already gets leaked. The information comes from the retailers GameStop and Target; they’ve revealed the release date though they’re only charged with letting customers pre-order the game. In conclusion, the pre-orders have started, but the release date and some other details appear on the product page.
Sonic Superstars Release Date Accidentally Leaked by Retailers
Sega shared a banner describing the details today, and the post also included the pre-order links to GameStop and Target. The post and other Sega announcements haven’t mentioned the release date — only that the game is available for pre-order. As spotted by Wario64, retailer pages are showing the release date clearly: December 31, 2023.

It’s unknown if Sega actually wanted to share the release date via retailers. But the studio still didn’t share any information about the subject, so the release date was likely an accidental leak. When we first saw the game at the Summer Game Fest, the studio shared the release windows as Fall 2023; it’s getting released on the last day of 2023.
In addition, we also learn the game’s price today. Like many other multi-platform games, Sonic Superstars is priced at $59.99 on all platforms. It’s thankfully also appearing on PS4 and Xbox One, though there are few games to expect for those consoles. The game will also be available through digital markets, and GameStop and Target are still available for physical copies. Keep in mind that the shipping may take a few days, especially if you’re one of those getting hyped for the release night.
