Sony has announced the Midnight Black Collection of PlayStation 5 accessories, which will launch on February 20, 2025. The collection includes the Black DualSense Edge controller, Black PlayStation Portal, Pulse Elite wireless headset, and Pulse Explore wireless earbuds. These accessories are designed to match the existing Midnight Black PS5 accessories, such as the DualSense wireless controller and console covers.
Although the console and the accompanying controllers have a lot of color options, all of the other products were limited to the standard PlayStation color scheme. This should finally give PlayStation users some options when buying accessories.
Pre-orders for the Midnight Black Collection will begin on January 16, 2025, at 10 AM local time through PlayStation Direct and other participating retailers.
- Black PlayStation Portal remote player: $199.99 USD | €219.99 | £199.99 | ¥34,980
- Pulse Explore wireless earbuds: $199.99 USD | €219.99 | £199.99 | ¥34,980
- Pulse Elite wireless headset: $149.99 USD | €149.99 | £129.99 | ¥22,980
- Black DualSense Edge wireless controller: $199.99 USD | €219.99 | £199.99 | ¥34,980
According to Sony, the Midnight Black Collection features a “unique, rich shade of black” with detailing on buttons and accents, including the PlayStation logo. The design also extends to accessories like the charging case for the Pulse Explore earbuds, the charging hanger for the Pulse Elite headset, and the carrying case for the Black DualSense Edge controller.
Even though these look great, the fan-favorite is still the classic color scheme similar to the original PlayStation. But since that is a limited edition release, not to mention extremely expensive, it isn’t easy for people to get their hands on it.
Sony has also reduced the price of the DualSense Edge controller in Europe. Originally priced at £209.99 / €239.99, the controller is now available for £199.99 / €219.99. This price will also apply to the upcoming Midnight Black version. Whether this price drop will make its way to the US is still unknown.
The Midnight Black Collection will be available for purchase starting February 20, 2025, with pre-orders opening on January 16.
