It looks as though retail store Target has outed a possible PS4 price drop on their website this morning.
The recent page has the Sony Playstation 4 listed for $349.99 along with the tag line “$50 price drop on PS4.” When companies advertise temporary deals and sales on products they often list the dates and the “only at” moniker, making the listing all the more intriguing. Sony has yet to announce plans to drop the current $400 price in any region, although the price of the PS4 was increased in Canada from $400 to $449.99 last year, Sony claimed it was due to “respond to changes in the market environment.” With the batch of aggressively priced bundles and deals unique to retailers, the price drop could also be due to the end of year sales such as Black Friday and the holiday season.
With the Paris Games Week less than a month away it is possible Sony will officially announce changes in price to their hardware, but with the PS4 selling very well in all regions is there really a need to slash the price ? The Playstation 4 was released in November 2013 and has since steadily outsold it’s predecessor the PS3, and it’s competition in all regions.
