We never got a sequel to the critically acclaimed Fallout New Vegas. Fans have been dying for a standalone Fallout title, and the likes of New Vegas. Fallout 4 was good, don’t get me wrong. But it failed to appease fans with its outdated graphics and subpar storyline. Still, are we getting Fallout New Vegas 2? Sorry, it’s a no.

Yesterday, Fallout 4 received a “beta2” and “newvegas2” repository listing on SteamDB. This hinted at the possibility that Bethesda might be working on Fallout New Vegas 2. Fans were asked to take these claims with a grain of salt, and they didn’t.
This coincides with the next-gen update confirmation for Fallout 4. It’s aimed at giving players a more future-proof experience. At least we can hope for it, given Bethesda’s track record for Fallout 4 games. So, fans figured they might be getting a New Vegas DLC of some sort or a standalone title somehow tied in with Fallout 4.
Looking back at the repositories once again, Juice Head on Twitter reported that the newvegas2 repositories had been removed from Steam and stated, “New Vegas 2 has been canceled.”
So, there you have it. Fallout New Vegas 2 has been canceled. Or is something going on? It could be an April Fool’s gag on Bethesda’s part, but who would dare to pull a prank on SteamDB with repositories?
It’s likely that Fallout New Vegas 2 has been delayed for the time being or the project has been canceled right before it even started development. Either way, fans still want New Vegas 2.
So, what are your thoughts on Fallout New Vegas 2 being canceled? Or are you still clinging to a thin thread of hope? At least we’re getting a Fallout 4 next-gen update. Either way, let us know your thoughts in the comments below, and stay tuned for more updates on TheNerdStash.
