A woman in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, came home to find her beauty room destroyed. She accused her husband of trashing the room while intoxicated and later starting a fire outside their home, prompting a fire department response.

Post Description I came home today to something I never expected to see. 💔 My beauty room—my little space where I created content, kept my things, and went when I needed to feel like myself—had been completely destroyed. My son was the first one to tell me what happened. I walked into my room and saw my vanity torn apart, drawers pulled out, my belongings thrown everywhere, and damage to the room. Some of the things I use for my TikTok work were damaged too. What hurts the most isn’t just the things that were broken. It’s knowing that something I created as a safe, beautiful space for myself could be destroyed in a moment. I don’t know what tomorrow looks like, but tonight I’m choosing to protect my peace, protect my children, and take things one step at a time. 💔🙏 If you’re watching this and you’ve ever had someone destroy something that meant something to you, please know—you are not crazy for being hurt by it. Your space, your belongings, and your sense of safety matter. #DomesticAbuseAwareness #EmotionalAbuse #AbuseAwareness #DestructionOfProperty #RealLife

The woman in question is Kassandra Marquardt. She is a content creator who often shares beauty product review videos, which makes her beauty room even more important. The clip attached above, the first of the bunch, garnered 372,500 views, 28,600 likes, and close to 6,000 comments.

The South Carolina woman, visibly upset, described what happened. Her husband, whom she suspected was intoxicated, had a tense moment with their son. According to Kassandra, her son wanted his father to buy him a new VR headset, but her husband instead came home with a roughly $4,000 lawnmower. She said an argument followed before she left the house to speak with her son’s teachers.

A verbal argument followed between father and son, during which the latter had “a meltdown” in their garage. Kassandra eventually left to speak to her son’s teachers. When she returned, Kassandra said her son apologized and told her that his father had destroyed her beauty room.

The room was trashed. All of her products were thrown across the room, as well as her furniture. With tears in her eyes, Kassandra explained that making TikToks with the products was the only thing she could do at the moment. This is because her husband, whom she accused of burning her clothes in the past, had allegedly taken the battery off her car, which prevented her from driving to a potential workplace.

‘This Is It’

The police were called. Kassandra said police responded but told her they could not take action over the damaged property because it was considered marital property. According to her account, officers attempted to make contact with her husband but did not enter the home.

“I have nowhere to go. This is it,” Kassandra said. “My husband is a drunk. He does not physically hurt me, only mentally. And that’s a lot. I’m probably not gonna post anything for a while.”

She did post shortly after, though. A brief follow-up clip showed a fire in their backyard. She commented that her husband had burned a pile of logs while drunk. She had to call the fire department, and firefighters arrived at around 1 a.m. to put the fire out.

“My boys were getting ready for their first day of school, and I wanted to keep everything as calm as possible for them,” Kassandra wrote in a third clip’s description. “I didn’t want them seeing me emotional or feeling like they needed to worry about Mommy. This morning I finally had a chance to breathe.”

Reactions

Concerned viewers flooded Kassandra’s comment sections, most of them fearing for her safety. One said, “Please, make an exit plan.” Another one commented, “Girl, grab the kids, a bag each, and run!“

Others called out Kassandra’s husband’s alleged behavior as inexcusable. One wrote, “Notice that they never ‘lose control’ and break their own stuff.” Another one added, “Please, have him arrested and get a restraining order.”
