As technology advances, new medical advances help to make people’s lives more comfortable. There are very sad or worrisome instances when patients sometimes have to wear a prosthesis, but they are getting lighter, more comfortable, and more practical. They can even help to make them flex. For example, this man in California went viral on TikTok for showing the best ways he uses his “cyborg eye.” It’s fantastic the positivity of this young man to do something useful with his situation and see the silver lining.
Brian S., or bsmachinist by the name of his account, is a man from California who opened his TikTok account to show the world his cyborg eye. Brian shared that, unfortunately, he lost his eye due to cancer, but that didn’t stop him from making one of the coolest decisions. Instead of using a “regular” eye prosthesis, he preferred a custom titanium prosthesis with a flashlight included. In his videos, Brian talks about how the prosthesis is not uncomfortable, does not overheat, and how he takes care of it. However, his most viewed videos are where he shows off his amazing cyborg abilities and shows his collection of different colored flashlights.
Most users celebrate how awesome the prosthetic is and that Brian instantly rolls +20 in Intimidation every time he uses his red eye. Everyone is jealous of how menacing it would look if Brian caught someone with that spooky illumination. Also, many users see the great utility of the flashlight in the prosthesis and that they could use it in their everyday lives.
It would be cool to see where I’m going when I’m getting water or when I want to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Plus, a cyborg eye would be very handy for finding my pets whenever they think hiding in the darkest places is funny.
