That’s right, Minecraft. So in order to speedrun a game one would have to accomplish something that could be considered “beating” the game. In Minecraft, that amounts to defeating the Ender Dragon and entering the Exit Portal. And believe it or not, there are quite a few speedrunning categories for this game, though most of them are variations of each other. For example, set seeds, random seeds, glitchless, single-player and co-op, etc. (Seed means the random number that determines what map the player gets). For this speedrun, we’re digging deep into the category list to find a 20+ player glitchless random seed run in Hardcore mode.
The perspective in this video is from the admin player’s point of view. The admin is required to be the one to submit the run. Again, they have to do this without glitches on a random seed. And guess what? They pull it off in 23 minutes! There are some very specific rules for this category, mostly to do with how timing is handled and how and when other players can join. This is the only run of this specific category with so many players, and the completion time is pretty close to other times with fewer players (10-19 players being an outlier at 50 minutes). A non-random Minecraft run with glitches allowed can be crushed in as little as five minutes.
And that’s Minecraft for you. Beatable in the time it takes to eat breakfast, yet how many tens of hours have been spent building one-room cottages while your visiting friend hops around whacking cows and chickens?
