This seems to be the suggestion regarding Andrew Garfield’s breakup in 2015 because a new report has claimed he has been unable to overcome the “regret” of losing Emma Stone (even though it’s been almost ten years).

Garfield and Stone were cast in The Amazing Spider-Man in 2010, and while their onscreen characters fell for each other, they found that they were experiencing those feelings in real life, too. They dated for four years before breaking up in 2015, and at the time, there appeared to be still a lot of mutual respect between the former couple.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Garfield said: “I’m her biggest fan as an artist. I’m constantly inspired by her work. I’m constantly inspired by how she handles and holds herself. So, for me it’s been bliss to be able to watch her success and watch her bloom into the actress she is.” High praise from an ex-boyfriend, indeed.

Garfield and Stone have gone on to date other people, and although the actor has recently split from his partner, Kate Thomas, Stone appears to be incredibly happy. She’s also married and has been since 2020. Garfield is reportedly “haunted by guilt and regret,” and “He’s convinced he let the love of his life slip through his fingers,” a source told Life & Style of how Garfield allegedly feels. “But Emma is married now to Dave McCary and has a daughter, so Andrew is stuck with his memories.”
The source also claims, “Friends say Andrew will never find the right girl if he keeps moping about the past!” If the report is believed, this is true: it will be impossible for Garfield to fully invest in a new relationship if he is not over a former flame. While we have no evidence to discredit this report, for many fans, it may be shocking to read that one of their favorite Hollywood stars is desperately pining over the past.
But why would Garfield reportedly feel “guilt” over the situation? Neither Garfield nor Stone has previously commented on the reason for their breakup; instead, they choose to honor their time together by not divulging everything to the media. However, there has been speculation about what went wrong, including busy work schedules (as the actor was filming the Martin Scorsese film Silence), and according to an Us Weekly source, they had not had much time to see each other. They had also reportedly “been fighting a lot.”
