When I first played Final Fantasy VII back in 1997 I would have laughed in your face had you told me I’d one day be able to play it on a mobile phone. Had I seen this in action my head would have exploded.

Thankfully, I’ve managed to see technology develop and it’s no longer a surprise to my small childlike brain.

What is a nice surprise is Square Enix has discounted the mobile Final Fantasy games to celebrate Christmas. There are a whole host of discounts throughout the holidays that offer a perfect chance for new or returning players to delve into the beloved franchise.

There are a few other titles added in for good measure, just take a look at the discounts on offer on the App Store and Google Play:

  • Final Fantasy: Was $7.99, now $3.99
  • Final Fantasy II: Was $7.99, now $3.99
  • Final Fantasy III: Was $14.99, now $5.99
  • Final Fantasy IV: Was $14.99, now $6.99
  • Final Fantasy IV: The After Years: Was $14.99, now $6.99
  • Final Fantasy V: Was $14.99, now $6.99
  • Final Fantasy VI: Was $14.99, now $6.99
  • Final Fantasy VII: Was $15.99, now $9.99
  • Final Fantasy IX: Was $20.99, now $12.99

There are also discounts for the various chapters of Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition as well as titles such as Tactics and Dimensions.

Outside of Final Fantasy, there are discounts on offer for these great titles:

  • Chrono Trigger: Was $9.99, now $4.99
  • SaGa Scarlet Grace: Ambitions: Was $29.99, now $23.99
  • Adventures of Mana: Was $13.99, now $6.99
  • Secret of Mana: Was $7.99, now $3.99
  • Valkyrie Profile: Was $17.99, now $8.99

That’s a lot to take in and it would be far from a merry Christmas if you chose to buy them all. You’d have fun but probably wouldn’t have any money left. It’s a good way to play some of the classics on the go though if you don’t have a Vita or PSP lying around.

As well as discounts, Dissidia and Mobius will see various holiday-themed events such as holiday monsters and community events.

Dissidia will be running a winter festival until December 29. It will offer players free first multi draws, holiday stickers, winter Chocobo missions and a co-op mission against Santa Gigantuar.

The event in Mobius will run until January 14 and will bring in the above mentioned holiday monsters, holiday-themed screenshots and double stamina recovery from elixirs (December 22-31).

It’s a Merry Christmas from Square Enix and a Happy Holidays from all of us at The Nerd Stash. Let us know if you plan to pick up any of these games and as always we never get sick of hearing what your favorite Final Fantasy games our, so head to that comments section people!
