The commercial underperformance of Life Is Strange: Double Exposure has led Square Enix to take action by gathering fan feedback through a detailed survey. This aims to identify some of the issues that plagued the game and possibly secure the future of following entries in the Life Is Strange, if the series continues, that is.
Released in October 2024, Life Is Strange: Double Exposure had the same protagonist as the original 2015 game. Despite the nostalgia surrounding Max’s comeback, the game failed to resonate with some fans. In our review, The Nerd Stash gave it a perfect score for its captivating performances, layered storytelling, and the significance of choices made by the player.
The reviews aside, the plummeting sales worsened in December 2024 when developer Deck Nine Studios announced layoffs, further signaling the challenges faced by the game and its developers. In at attempt to remedy this and possibly secure the future of the franchise, Square Enix has sent a 15-minute survey to Life Is Strange fans via email, asking for their thoughts on various aspects of Life Is Strange: Double Exposure.
The questionnaire covers topics such as the game’s narrative, gameplay mechanics, and technical performance. It also probes whether players felt the game was worth purchasing and how their experience has influenced their interest in future installments.
If you’re a fan of the Life is Strange games and want to see it continue and maybe become better than ever, now is your chance to tell the developers what you think. If Square Enix can understand where it stumbled, perhaps it can make a new game in the franchise that can finally remind players why they fell in love with the series in the first place.
Only people who have bought and played the Life is Strange games will receive the feedback email, and if you want your voice to be heard, you can check your email now and find the email in the spam folder.
