Square Enix and Luminous Productions are gearing up for the release of Forspoken later this month. After receiving feedback from last year’s demo, the studios are here to deliver a new action-adventure experience. The game is set to launch on January 24, 2023, for the PlayStation 5 and PC. But, before the release date comes around, you can check out the cinematic trailer for Forspoken. It features protagonist Frey Holland in action within both her world and the land of Athia. We’ve attached the footage below for you to explore!
A Switch Between Worlds: The Cinematic Trailer for Forspoken
Frey Holland is running away from a sinister force that’s on the move. That is, she’s being chased by moving figures across two different worlds. One in New York City, where she comes from. And the other in Athia, a strange and fantastic land where skyscrapers are non-existent. In New York City, she runs through the crummy sections of the city by navigating over gates and municipal obstacles. But in Athia, she uses magic to get from point A to point B while battling challenging creatures and foes.

The cinematic trailer for Forspoken is supported by “Revolution” by Bishop Briggs, a charged-up evolutionary track of a “bulletproof” woman ready to take on anything. The action transcends the music with dramatic encounters and pauses, otherworldly monsters, and Frey embracing her mystical powers. Keep in mind that it is a cinematic trailer, so no gameplay will be on display for this round of footage.
The trailer concludes with an epic face-off between Frey and a presumably-appearing aquatic catastrophe, a living being from the likes of H.P. Lovecraft. A courageous Frey looks upward at the mysterious creature before the game’s title card slaps on the screen.
