Year after year, game developers and publishers from around the world take to the floor at E3 to showcase their games and Square Enix is no exception. Unfortunately, due to the current state of the world, there will be no E3 this year and companies have had to showcase their wares online, like with the recent Sony PlayStation 5 showcase.
Square Enix was due to announce several games at the event but will instead be doing it on their own, in time for the end of Summer.
At a recent company stockholder meeting, Square Enix was asked of their plans now that E3 wasn’t going ahead. They had this to say:
“We would normally announce new games at E3, yes. We had planned to have a press conference as a replacement event but were unable to do so since assets were not complete. We’ll be announcing new titles individually as the timing permits. Several will debut around July to August.”
The above quote was first reported by Gematsu in a translation they have taken from the blog over at No Investment, No life. Despite it giving us no clue as to what Square Enix is going to announce, I’m looking forward to it.
Initial reservations aside, I absolutely loved part one of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake. It doesn’t hold a candle to the original, but I thoroughly enjoyed my journey to the platinum. That said, it is probably too early for part two to be announced.
More likely, in my opinion, there could be an announcement for Final Fantasy XVI for the next-gen consoles or maybe a new Tomb Raider. This is all speculation on my part as I have absolutely zero insider knowledge.
If you have any thoughts of what Square Enix may announce, please be sure to let us know your own speculations in the comments. We’ll be sure to do our part and keep you up to date with the announcements as they come in.
