The trailer features Ezra at the center of events, as well as scenes surrounding Empire-loyal Mandalorians. What’s attracting the most attention, however, is the introduction of Grand Admiral Thrawn, making him a canon character outside of the expanded universe. A long time fan favorite antagonist, Thrawn was a notable villain in his very own trilogy of books released between 1991 and 1993. After the events leading to the death of Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine, Grand Admiral Thrawn lead Imperial forces effectively and ruthlessly.

In addition to Thrawn’s reveal, a new book titled after the character is set to release in the near future. Timothy Zahn, Thrawn’s original creator, is currently working on the title. The announcement was accompanied by a reveal of the book’s cover. Check out the preview below!
