Update: After the leaked store page was noticed. Electronic Arts did indeed admit Star Wars: Squadrons is on the way.

EA also announced it was going to be having an official reveal trailer through its official Twitter account.

Pilots Wanted. Tune in for the reveal trailer of #StarWarsSquadrons this Monday, June 15th at 8:00 AM Pacific Time: https://t.co/ULwkIhQy2y pic.twitter.com/L0Z3jC2c3j

For those who want to be able to watch the unveiling, tune into the official EA Star Wars YouTube channel on Monday, June 15 at 8 am Pacific Time.

It appears Microsoft accidentally let the Star Wars Squadrons cat out of the bag on Friday morning. On the Xbox One store, a page for the unannounced game, previously known as Project Maverick was briefly posted. After users started to notice the page, which had a preorder link to a broke URL, it quickly went away.

We were still able to grab a screenshot, which shows both a profile of a rebel pilot, as well as one of an imperial pilot. The picture and name of the game fits into what people had deduced the next Electronic Arts title was going to be centered on.

Here are some details about Star Wars: Squadrons, which was previously known as Project Maverick. It has a single-player campaign that is a few hours long. But the focus is on multiplayer space combat. https://t.co/qyJhQJCKwv

Star Wars: Squadron swas thought to be dubbed Maverick because it had to do with flying. In this case, it was a nod to the movie Top Gun, where Tom Cruise starred as a pilot whose call sign was Maverick.

Venture Beat‘s sources were able to tell the site a bit more about the game saying it’s an aerial/space combat game about piloting ships in head-to-head battles. Those sources said the game will have a single-player campaign but the focus is going to be on the multiplayer.

In other words, it appears Star Wars: Squadrons will be quite a bit like Star Wars: Battlefront, without the ground offensives.

As soon as the leak was discovered by eagle-eyed Xbox users, information began trickling out about the game. That hints that Electronic Arts, or Microsoft were close to giving a full reveal. It’s possible the company wanted to hold off on announcing until its event next month.

Of course, the timing of the leak does stand out. Star Wars: Squadrons gets an unofficial announcement just one day after Sony controlled the news cycle with its PS5 reveal event. It’s entirely possible someone at Microsoft decided to put the attention back on them. We should be getting more information about the game in the coming days.
