Bethesda games are beloved for offering solid mod support. The likes of Skyrim have remained popular for years after launch as a result. Indeed, some dedicated people spend hours creating fantastic QoL mods, or goofy ones that, for example, change a dragon into a train. Starfield is getting the same treatment. Official mod tools have now been confirmed as coming in 2024. And yes, while the wait might be long, modders have a lot to look forward to when these tools arrive.

Despite some people complaining about the game’s optimization, lack of content in certain areas, and a poor space exploration system, Starfield is still a fun game to play. Of course, most games this company makes become more fun, thanks to mods. In a recent interview with Famitsu, Todd Howard confirmed that mod tools for Starfield will arrive in 2024. The exact release date for them is uncertain, but given how mods are crucial to hook players to this type of game, we imagine they might launch during next year’s first months, or so we hope.

Even if the official mod tools for Starfield are coming in 2024, that hasn’t stopped gamers from tinkering with the code to bring new stuff for people. One of the most downloaded mods that took a day to make was the DLSS mod, which enables said feature given how Starfield launched without it, thus improving performance by a large margin. Besides optimization mods like this one, others add weapons and outfits, change the look of certain space suits, and more. Regardless of when the tools arrive, we’re confident to say the community will bring us fun mods to add to this already huge game. Hopefully, the catalog will grow in the coming days so players can tailor their experience to their liking.
