A recent post from Bethesda reveals the developer’s new hit game Starfield had the most successful launch of any game the company has ever put out. Starfield’s critical reception among reviewers and fans has been all over the place, but the popularity of the new sci-fi experience is undeniable as players continue to pour in.
It’s impossible to not have seen Starfield being posted and discussed all around the internet recently. The first console title developed by Bethesda since 2018’s Fallout 76 has definitely made a splash all across the gaming community, and gamers are flocking to the title to discover the universe to explore or to find out what all the hype’s about. All of that curiosity and excitement, combined with the game recently hitting Xbox Game Pass, has made Starfield a massive hit. According to Bethesda, it’s the developer’s biggest launch yet.
Starfield Player Numbers Over 6 Million Since Launch
The tweet recently came from the official Starfield Twitter account concerning the game’s massive launch. It says that the game has already passed 6 million players after having only launched a couple of days prior.

Those are absolutely massive numbers for a game, Bethesda or otherwise, and they reflect both the reception and massive amounts of chatter surrounding the new game. The numbers certainly will put Starfield in contention for one of the highest-selling games of 2023. The champion remains Hogwarts Legacy after a monumental 12 million sales in its first two weeks back in February. It’s unknown if Starfield has much of a chance of beating these numbers right now. The title being available on Xbox Game Pass could very possibly hurt its sales numbers in favor of raising its player count to the fantastic numbers shared by Bethesda today.
The current CEO of Microsoft Gaming Phil Spencer recently made the amazing announcement that Starfield surpassed a million concurrent players. It seems that the game will only continue to set records for both Bethesda and Xbox as time progresses.
