When moving, it is normal to look for better living conditions, a higher-paying job, and a safer place. And while some states might offer this, it seems that a few in Florida, more specifically, Miami, don’t think the city offers those, especially the latter. Recently, a young couple from New York expressed their wish to move to Miami because they are looking for a safer place, but locals are urging them to stay away, saying the city isn’t as safe as it used to be.

Safest areas for a young couple ?

The post comes from Reddit user AdvertisingNo11, who asked about the safest areas in Miami, Florida, for a young couple. For context, they said the couple is in their 20s, looking to move to the Hollywood or Pembroke Pines area, but they are worried about safety.

Furthermore, they mentioned they have a budget of $1,600 to find a unit for the two of them in the above-mentioned areas. Lastly, they also talked about how they come from upstate New York, hence the safety concerns when moving.

As many can imagine, some locals just urged the couple to think twice and look elsewhere. First, they focused on the $1,600 budget. According to locals, that isn’t enough to find a place in the areas they mentioned. Apparently, it is much more expensive than that in the city or in those zones, so they might be tight on that budget.

Then, the majority started talking about the safety party, and the majority agreed that these areas, and Miami in general, don’t feel safe anymore. Some even encouraged the couple to stay in New York or try somewhere else.

Florida Locals Feel Miami Isn’t Safe Anymore

Just looking at the comments is enough to see the general vibe of what many think of Miami. According to them, the city isn’t safe anymore, and those looking for that should just plan to move to another spot.

“Stay in New York. This place sucks.”

“There’s crime everywhere.”

Others, however, gave more helpful advice to the potential newcomers.

“Pembroke Pines is generally a safe city. Better west Pembroke Pines, but it is going to be more expensive than $1600. East Pines is still safe, though. Hollywood is also generally safe. In both cities, you can go for a daily walk with no issues. But with that being said, you are still in South Florida; crime is everywhere.“

Some Redditors emphasized that the aforementioned areas are not part of Miami, and if they want to be in the city, they should look for places nearby. Yet, regardless of the zone, many think the safety of Miami and its surroundings isn’t as great as people believe.
