Once you start playing Stellar Blade, you’ll be inundated with many gameplay details like combos, skills, and upgradeable gear. Unlocking skills plays a core part in improving your build in Stellar Blade. And there’s a hefty number of skills across three separate pages that you can upgrade early in the game. However, the resources are scarce, and you need to focus on which skill you’d need to unlock first.
Ambush
The first skill that’s super handy to upgrade is the one that allows you to finish off your opponents with one hit in Stellar Blade. The Ambush is an Attacking skill, and you won’t need more than one SP to unlock it. Once unlocked, you’ll be able to attack targets from behind while unnoticed, and finish them off by pressing the Triangle button.
Counter
You’ll learn how to parry the opponent’s attacks right at the beginning of the game. If you block, you’ll still be hit with chip damage. But if you parry, you’ll not lose health, while throwing the opponent off balance. However, there’s a skill in the Survival section called Counter, which allows you to immediately attack after you’ve performed a perfect parry. This is very useful for stopping the foes from continuing their attacks even after you’ve perfectly parried their first strike.
Reflection
Besides the parry, Eve also has the dodging ability. Pressing the circle button right when the opponent wants to hit you with a fatal attack activates the perfect dodge sequence. This is life-saving, but it won’t open the enemy’s guard for attacks. For that, you’d need the Reflection. After a perfect dodge, press and hold the Square button to attack and stun the target after you’ve unlocked the Reflection skill in Stellar Blade.
Double Dodge
You have the dodge right off the bat in Stellar Blade. What Eve doesn’t know is that she can dodge twice with a skill called the Double Dodge. This is a Survival skill in Stellar Blade, and unlocking it allows you to gain a higher chance of perfectly dodging the opponent’s fatal attack. Combine this skill with Reflection, and slay any type of Naytiba you face in the game.
Beta Energy Recharge Skills
Eve has some sort of special attacking powers that are charged by an element called Beta. These attacks are performed by the combination of L1 + Square, Circle, X, and Triangle. However, your Beta meter isn’t infinite. It needs to be recharged by attacking enemies. But, if you unlock the Beta Recharge skills in both the Attacking and Survival pages, you’ll always have the upper hand in combat in Stellar Blade.
Remember that you can gain more SP by exploring the areas and fighting the enemies. So don’t just run away from the targets to pass on the story; stand tall, fight back, and kill them to earn SP and unlock more skills in Stellar Blade.
Stellar Blade is currently available to play on PS5.
