Stellar Blade is nearing its release and we’re already learning more about the game’s future from the director of the Korean ARPG, Hyung-Tae Kim, from his interview. After releasing the phenomenal demo, ShiftUp is planning on adding more content for fans after release. According to Kim, the team is not certain when it comes to DLC, but it is possible, one thing is confirmed, Stellar Blade will be getting New Game Plus soon after release.

That isn’t all when it comes to free updates. Similar to how Insomniac Games has been doing things with its Spider-Man games, ShiftUp will be adding costumes and other cosmetic items post-launch. Kim also reassured fans that none of the cosmetics in the game need real-world money to buy. Everything can be unlocked while playing through Stellar Blade. This means that it will not have microtransactions of any kind. Finally, there is an update planned soon after release that aims to rectify most of the issues players have noticed in the demo.

Stellar Blade has become the most pre-ordered game on the PlayStation store after the release of its demo and there is still time until release, which means the pre-order numbers will keep rising. Although no one expected a PlayStation 5 exclusive to gain this much traction in 2024 after Sony’s announcement that this will be a slow year, it isn’t serendipitous nonetheless.

Kim went on to confirm the technical details of the game. Stellar Blade will run at 60 FPS at 1440p resolution, and ShiftUp promises that it will run at around 50-60 FPS at 4k, which is impressive if it is consistent. We don’t have any confirmation or details of the DLC, but we do know for sure that Eve will be the only playable character in the whole single-player campaign. Stellar Blade releases on April 26, 2024, exclusively on the PlayStation 5.
