Since its release, the HoYoverse community has constantly compared Honkai Star Rail and Genshin Impact. We don’t blame these gamers. The devs clearly favor the turn-based installment and its Trailblazers, as evidenced by the generous distribution of free units and the first anniversary gifts. However, with the coming arrival of Kuro Games’ new gacha title, could the HoYoverse be facing a formidable challenger? Leaks from Wuthering Waves hint at a potentially game-changing reward right at the start of the game, the Beginner’s Choice banner. This revelation begs the question: could Wuthering Waves disrupt the HoYoverse, or will it follow the path of previous Genshin Impact rivals?
Wuthering Waves’ Beginner’s Choice Banners Will Reward Players With a 5-Star Unit
As in the Honkai Star Rail release, HoYoverse implemented a mechanic in its permanent banner in which, after 300 pulls, players could choose one of the characters. On the other hand, Genshin Impact offered a 4-star party member if you finished the initial story. Recent leaks from Wuthering Waves show an upcoming one-time reward system called Beginner’s Choice banner. This system will allow players to focus on a 5-star party member, similar to Genshin‘s latest Chronicled Wish banner, and once you pull them, it’s gone forever.
Honestly, any free character in any game is always welcome. The difference is that Wuthering Waves may give you a choice of only 5-star units during its launch period. With this information out there, players took it to social media to compare Wuthering Waves‘ launch day rewards with those of HoYoverse’s latest titles. It seems that the gacha genre is one of the most competitive in the market, and I can see why. You must put a lot of time, effort, and money into getting every party member, so having a headstart is excellent. Hopefully, we’ll see if this banner truly arrives when the game launches on May 22, 2024.
