After a fantastic nature-themed DLC, Age of Wonders 4: Eldritch Realms is ready to open a box full of bizarre and dark creatures soon. If you didn’t know, this is the last of the planned expansions for the game. We already have Dragon Dawn, Empire & Ashes, and Primal Fury. And while all of them have been fantastic in many ways, Eldritch Realms promises to take us to the space between realms and face the abyss facefirst.
Those eager to step into the darkness can do it on June 18. If you already own the expansion pass, all you must do is sit back and wait for the DLC to become available. If you don’t have it or only want to buy this expansion, you can buy it separately for $19.99, which is a great price for everything that’s coming. Eldritch Realms will include a new layer in the in-game world, which is described as the space between spaces. Furthermore, the DLC also includes the following:
- New Ruler Type: Eldritch Sovereign
- New Tomes of Magic: Tome of the Tentacle, Tome of Corruption, and Tome of Cleansing Flame.
- New Event Systems: Cosmic Happenings.
- New Forms: Insects and Syrons.
- New Story Realms: Athla.
Plus, players can also expect two new mounts, three new realm traits, two new realm templates, five new premade rulers, and new music tracks.
Triumph Studios and Paradox Interactive are also planning a huge free update for Age of Wonders 4. The key aspect of this update is the rework of the Mystic Culture. However, players can expect new realms with hidden traits and pantheon content.
Overall, Eldritch Realms looks like the cherry on top of an already fantastic expansion pass for Age of Wonders 4. While it is uncertain if we’ll get more content after this, we hope that’s the case. Age of Wonders 4 is the game that keeps on giving, and 4x strategy fans can’t get enough of it.
