Geoff Keighley hosted another edition of Summer Game Fest today, and in it, Capcom revealed a brand-new look at some gameplay footage for Street Fighter 6 and an exciting character discovery.
Like most trailers at Summer Game Fest, the Street Fighter 6 one was extremely brief. We were shown a very familiar character with a blonde-flat top that delivered an almighty Sonic Boom to Ryu. That’s right, Guile is making a return to the series, and he’s already had a little change of outfit. He’s now sporting the very bold choice of double denim – we’re not going to tell him what he looks like, though.
Check out the trailer below.
What We Do Know About Street Fighter 6.
Street Fighter 6 is pretty much a complete revamp for the much-beloved arcade fighting series. The game retains the classic 1v1 side-view fighting experience that has been synonymously associated with the series. However, this upcoming game aims to include some open-world exploration, as well as adding several new fighters.
That’s not the only thing that Capcom will be adding to Street Fighter 6 because they have been experimenting with the mechanics, which includes a modern type for “easier inputs,” a powerful strike called ‘Drive Impact’ that absorbs moves, and the ability to make faces at your opponents before fights start – we think we speak for everyone when we say that the latter is the highlight.
Before this Guile gameplay trailer was revealed, there had already been a lot of leaked information regarding this game, so the trailer doesn’t tell us much more, apart from the inclusion of Guile. There was a recent leak for Street Fighter 6 that (possibly) revealed the entire line-up and some other information about the game – nothing is sacred anymore.
At least Summer Game Fest was successful in showing Guile in this Street Fighter 6 trailer, though; a fan-favorite character who hasn’t been seen since Street Fighter 2. The game is set to be released sometime in 2023.
