Monday morning, Capcom announced the development of the next title in the Street Fighter franchise with a teaser trailer. The title of the game will be Street Fighter 6, and more information will be released in the upcoming summer. Here is a teaser trailer for the Street Fighter 6.
This announcement had first been teased by the company last week with a countdown on the Capcom website for the game’s 35th anniversary. It was then made at Capcom’s Pro Tour fighting game exhibition. Also, this exhibition announced many comebacks for many Capcom games.
The trailer does not show any of the actual gameplay for the game. Instead, the trailer shows fan-favorite Ryu facing off against newly added (and DLC character) Luke. At the same time, Capcom has also opened a new website for Street Fighter 6. Currently, the website only shows the teaser trailer and the newly announced Capcom Fighting Collection.
Street Fighter V: Capcom Leading Up to Street Fighter 6
Street Fighter V was the last entry in the fighting game franchise. While the game was highly anticipated by fans, it suffered from many bugs, limited content, and server-based issues. However, listening to fans’ complaints, Capcom updated the game many times in the future.
The game contains new features such as V-Reversal moves and a special V-Trigger mode. Street Fighter V was released in February 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Steam. Also, the game had a free downloadable upgrade that was released in January 2018.
Most recently, Street Fighter V: Champion Edition was a new version of the game that was released in 2020. The release included all past content from the original game release, along with the Arcade Edition, including characters and costumes. The final DLC for Street Fighter V (containing the character Luke) was released in November 2021.
As of now, there is no set release window for the upcoming Street Fighter 6 and its trailer. It is also unknown about the available platforms for the game.
