When Street Fighter V released, it had a few issues that made for a less than ideal reception. Despite the flaws, the game enjoyed favor among critics and tournament players. But even though it’s less than a year old, interest and sales are dropping as the initial adrenaline rush fades. Other, shinier games have hit the market, and Street Fighter V in the meantime has been all but quiet, nearly forgotten, like the guy that takes home the bronze.

But wait. There’s someone here who has something to say about all that.

That’s right, you saw what you saw. While Akuma was more than willing to lend his Dragonball Z-like muscles to Tekken for awhile, Street Fighter’s ace in the hole simply couldn’t stay away when he heard about his franchise’s falling success rate. Now he’s back, and he won’t rest until gamers pick their controllers back up for a few more rounds of Street Fighter V. And we’d all better oblige him, because he sounded mad as hell in that teaser.

Originally confirmed at the Red Bull Battle Grounds championship yesterday, Akuma will first be playable in Street Fighter V at the Playstation Experience December 3-4. The big man is participating in the 2016 Capcom Cup, where he is confident he’ll be able to steamroll the rest of the roster. Fan reaction to his inclusion has been undeniably positive in spite of the fact that no real details pertaining to his moves and abilities have been announced yet. But while we still don’t even know when he’ll become available to the general public, the excitement heralding his return is a good sign for the game’s lifespan.
