Look out Wii U owners, more classic Nintendo games are on their way to the Virtual Console. With the new update both Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros 3 and Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’s Treasure are now available on the Wii U.
For those who don’t know Super Mario Advance 4 is actually a remake of the critically acclaimed Super Mario Bros 3 for the Game Boy Advanced. Released in 2003, this is the last in the Super Mario Advance series. Currently priced at $7.99, the addition of Advanced 4 completes the series’ availability on the Wii U Virtual Console. On the other side of the gaming spectrum Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’s Treasure was a Wii title that released back in 2007 for North America. Unlike many titles released during this time, Zack & Wiki is actually a point and click adventure game that utilized the Wii’s motion technology. While it was a critical success, Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’s Treasure suffered from low sales numbers. This is quite possibly the driving force as to why Capcom is not set to add another title to this series anytime soon. Zack & Wiki is available for $19.99.
Sadly these are the only games that have been added and no news has been released on any further titles coming to the Virtual Console. Wii U has notably lacked in the N64 depart and all Gamecube games available are HD remakes. Hopefully, in the future, we will get more games released for either of these consoles.
