A mere six days after its release, Super Mario Odyssey has become the fastest selling Mario title ever. The game has already moved 1.1 million units in the U.S., surpassing the previous fastest selling game in the franchise, New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Super Mario Odessey is also now the fastest selling game on the Nintendo Switch, beating out The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

The game has garnered a lot of praise, from both critics and fans. In our review, we lauded the fantastic gameplay and beautifully designed levels. Not only is it an evolution of the 3D Mario games, building on what Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and both Super Mario Galaxy games did previously, but it introduces fantastic new mechanics and characters. The title is brimming with Nintendo’s trademark charm and attention to detail.

Its release also adds to the Switch’s incredible library, joining the likes of Zelda, Mario Kart, Splatoon 2, Arms, and a bevy of indie games. There are also plenty of other new games from the Big N to look forward to, including Metroid Prime 4, a Switch exclusive Pokemon title, and Kirby and Yoshi games. But it’s not only first party games coming to the platform.

But it’s not only first party games coming to the platform. Nintendo has also amassed a lot of third-party partners, each with several great games set to broaden the console’s offerings even more. Skyrim, Doom, L.A. Noir, and Wolfenstein: The New Colossus are all on their way. The platforms portable nature makes for an incredibly unique way to play blockbuster games and is well ahead of where the Wii U was at this point in its life.

Super Mario Odyssey is available now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. For more information, be sure to check back to the site for updates, as well as all of your other Nerdy News and Needs!
