The summer of video game announcements and reveals has always been great showcases of what’s next for the future of gaming. This year, because of the ongoing viral pandemic, the state of game news has been thrown into somewhat of a toss-up due to the uncertain nature and state of affairs. Nintendo has always been more unpredictable in their reveals and announcements; preferring to blindly announce and show fans what they have been working on. Despite possibly being finished in showcasing their new titles and games, some of Nintendo’s partners and developers are working on releasing new content for released titles. Announced on Twitter this morning, there will be a new announcement of the next DLC fighter set to release for Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

The next #SmashBrosUltimate DLC fighter will be revealed tomorrow at 7am PT! The video presentation will be roughly 3 minutes long, followed by a brief message from Director Masahiro Sakurai. Tune-in here tomorrow: https://t.co/7RL5x0EEVI pic.twitter.com/Fqmw03axMv

The last fighter Super Smash Brothers have seen was the ARMS character, Min Min, back in June. While this reveal was exciting, many fans were dissatisfied in their dreams to see some big collaborations or newcomers for Smash Bros DLC. Despite this, Challenger Pack 2 sets five more new characters yet to be seen, and developing each character remotely is likely why it has taken so long to announce another fighter. Game director Masahiro Sakurai stated before that some presentations are made sequentially to keep development smooth. Yet, due to the COVID pandemic, it’s hard to tell if there will be a new fighter released tomorrow or at a later date.

Some of Nintendo’s biggest reveals this year have come sporadically, with timelines ranging from releasing in a few weeks to a few months. It would be a very unlikely scenario to say that Nintendo has been holding onto this reveal for a more specific moment. Yet, the timeframe of the presentation does set expectations to below. Only 3 minutes of a full reveal and a brief interlude by Sakurai could indicate that this is merely an announcement and not a release. Still, the showcase will be exciting, and fans hopefully won’t have to wait too long until the release of fighter 7 to Super Smash Brothers Ultimate.
