Get ready to smash! Nintendo’s popular Super Smash Bros. series is coming to Nintendo Switch this December 7th. But the video game giant is letting fans demo the game before by coming to college football tailgate parties. Starting September 22nd, the game will make its way to select college football stadiums until the release date.
A Super Smash Bros. branded trailer will arrive in parking lots outside the football stadiums. These trailers will feature six gameplay stations with massive LED screens so fans can play and watch. The set up will also be good for photo ops and selfies for fans to share on social media. Admission is free with no age restrictions. There will even be prizes for winners as long as supplies last.
Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing had this to say about this exciting decision:
“Many of our biggest fans are now in college and have memories growing up playing one of the games in the Super Smash Bros. series. We want to bring Super Smash Bros. Ultimate directly to longtime and first-time players, and what better way than to combine two of college students’ favorite pastimes: video games and football.”
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the first of this series to come to the Nintendo Switch. But it originally came out in 1999 for the Nintendo 64. Melee then arrived for the Gamecube in 2001, Brawl for the Wii in 2008, and then another for the Wii U in 2014. Ultimate is including every fighter from the past games as well as new ones, making for 70 playable fighters. The game also features 100 stages and 900 music tracks from all of Nintendo’s past games such as The Legend of Zelda, Mario, Sonic, and Donkey Kong.
