It seems like only yesterday the Last Daughter of Krypton debuted in her own solo series – now Supergirl is entering its sixth and final season. And if you’re hyped for what’s to come, the newly-released CW teaser is only going to excite you more. Check it out below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVFS5fb0QR4

The official synopsis reads:

SEASON PREMIERE — As Brainiac (Jesse Rath) lays close to death after trying to stop Lex (Jon Cryer), Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and team soar in to save him, engaging in an epic battle with Gamenmae (guest star Cara Buono). After beating Leviathan, Supergirl turns her attention to Lex (Jon Cryer) who has used the Obsidian platform to brainwash half the world to love him and follow him at all costs, no matter what horrible things he does. Knowing how dangerous this makes her brother, Lena (Katie McGrath) enlists the entire team — Alex (Chyler Leigh), J’onn (David Harewood), Dreamer (Nicole Maines), Kelly (Azie Tesfai) and Brainiac — to help, but Supergirl realizes that the only way to truly stop Lex is to sacrifice herself.”

Supergirl‘s final season consists of twenty episodes. The first episode, titled “Rebirth”, premieres March 30 on The CW.  It is thought production delays and declining ratings contributed towards the show’s ending. Regardless, given Season 6 is known to be the show’s last, fans should receive closure to all ongoing storylines.

Supergirl Season 6 promises to cover real-world themes as per previous seasons. Co-Showrunner Jessica Queller says the season explores “power, and the abuse of power, and the limits of powers, and from without and within.” It is also influenced by the Black Lives Matter movement.

Chyler Leigh, who plays Alex Danvers in Supergirl, also directs Episode 6 while David Ramsey not only directs an episode but reprises his role as Arrow‘s John Diggle.
