A writer working on The CW’s upcoming Superman & Lois TV series has accused her former bosses of sexism following her firing.
Nadria Tucker, whose writing credits include Krypton and Underground, wrote a Twitter thread about her experiences working on the show.
“Some personal news: Wednesday I got word that my contract on Superman and Lois won’t be extended, my services no longer needed, my outline and draft subpar (obviously I disagree with that last bit lol)”, she wrote, “This, after months of me flagging #metoo jokes in dialogue, of me defending the Bechdel test, of me FIGHTING to ensure the only Black faces on screen aren’t villains, of me pitching stories for female characters (there’s one in the title of the series!) that went ignored. If I sound bitter, it’s because this one stings”.

I've been assured by colleagues that I was great in the room, so I know I'm not nuts. I debated whether to post this but my own mental wellbeing demands that I do. The only way shit changes is to expose it. ❤️? /end

She claims that her former Superman & Lois colleagues were behind her all the way,
“I’ve been assured by colleagues that “I was great in the room, so I know I’m not nuts. I debated whether to post this, but my own mental well-being demands that I do. The only way shit changes is to expose it.”
Superman & Lois isn’t the only CWVerse show to receive allegations of sexism. Former CWVerse Showrunner Andrew Kreisberg was fired in 2017 after fifteen women accused him of sexual assault. Four men also came forward on these accusations.
It’s perhaps a shame that Tucker is no longer a part of the show, given her experience writing for Krypton. The aforementioned series lasted two seasons between March 21, 2018, and June 12, 2019, before being axed in August of the latter year. It focused on Superman’s homeworld 200 years before his birth.
Regardless of Tucker’s involvement, expect to see Superman & Lois premiere on February 23, 2021, on The CW. The show stars Tyler Hoechin and Elizabeth Tulloch as Superman and Lois, respectively.
