Supernatural is coming to an end after 15 seasons on the CW. The announcement came in a short video posted to social media. Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins shared their feelings saying,

“15 years of a show that has certainly changed my life, I know it’s changed these two guys’ lives, and we just wanted you to hear from us that though we’re excited about next year, it will be the finale.”

However, a winking face at the end of Jensen Ackles tweet may mean we could see more of the Winchester brothers someday.

Well, it’s official. One more round for the Winchester brothers. Though nothing ever really ends in Supernatural…does it? 😉 https://t.co/zaZHJX4H9L

The fifteenth season is renewed for 20 episodes. In total, Supernatural will have aired 328 episodes when it comes to an end next year. It’s one of the most popular shows on the CW and has seen Sam and Dean save the world countless times.

Hey #SPNFamily here’s a little message from @JensenAckles @mishacollins and me. I’m so grateful for the family that’s been built because of the show. Excuse me while i go cry. pic.twitter.com/QDXDsAyIfK

Supernatural was created by writer and producer Eric Kripke. The first episode aired September 13th of 2005. Kripke posted his reaction to social media as well saying,

“please remember: shows end. But family is forever. That never changes & that’s what you’ve created here. All my love & thanks to the cast & crew & most of all you, the family.”

Ackles said the showrunner talked with them before the video went up.

“A little word from Mr. Eric Kripke, the creator of this world and these characters, that in a show about family, it is amazing and it is the pride of his life that it became family.”

Felicia Day, who appeared in several episodes of the show, responded on Twitter as well.

“Tears. These guys, and this show, changed my life. And the lives of so many other cast, crew and fans, for so many awesome years. Always will be grateful to be part of the #SPNFamiIy. On air or off.”

The show’s fourteenth season began in October of 2018.

The CW announced earlier this year Arrow is ending as well after a shortened eighth season.
