An alarming incident played out on the streets of Las Vegas, Nevada, when two protesters were accosted by at least 16 police officers. A video was posted on Reddit detailing the drama, which was initially recorded on a live Twitch stream. In the clip, a male and female protester stood by the roadside as a group of police officers dressed in their uniforms walked past them.
One of the officers asked, “Enjoying yourself?” And the female protester replied, “You know, covering everything.” The male protester then said, “Honor your oath. How about you honor your oath b*tch? How about that?”
Clearly offended by the protester’s words, the police officer turned around and asked his colleagues to turn back too. Following the order, they all surrounded the protesters, threatening to take them to jail. The woman, who was still recording, began to protest, saying she didn’t say anything. However, they ignored her pleas and tackled both her and her male counterpart to the ground.
The woman also tried to tell them that she was recording a live video, but they insisted on taking her in while yelling at her to stop resisting. “I didn’t do nothing, I didn’t say nothing. I’m not resisting, I swear I’m not resisting,” she clamored. “I didn’t do anything and I’m on live… I didn’t do anything, I’m just watching. Are you serious?”
After she was cuffed, one of the officers asked her if she had any form of identification on her. She stated that it was in her backpack but denied giving them access to search it. Despite that, the officers could be heard saying that she was under arrest, so she would be searched anyway.
When it became apparent that she was going to jail, the protester further tried to plead her case, saying that she wasn’t violent but had been urging other protesters to keep their protests peaceful. “I’ve been walking around covering for years. I’ve been saying keep it peaceful. You can watch my live,” she begged.
Eventually, one of the police officers retrieved her ID from her bag, and another aggressively said, “Enjoying your night?… yeah, you should’ve shut your mouth too! You should’ve left hours ago. Well, now shut up! Shut your f*cking mouth… go back to L.A. dumba*s.” Soon enough, they figured out that she was recording a live video and ended it.
Enraged by the actions of the police officers, social media users slammed the officers as “criminal” and “insecure.” One user commented, “Notice how every cop followed without question. There are no good cops. F*ck them.” Another added, “Psycho jerks. They want to hurt people; the law means nothing to them with their soft egos.”
A third fan observed, “That absolutely random ‘stop resisting’ that got thrown out in this encounter while being faced with absolutely no resistance really puts the icing on the fascist cake.”
Another user called the police the “biggest criminal gang,” and another said it was “the scariest sh*t” they’ve seen so far.
